DRAGNET Dragnet , the brainchild of Jack Webb, may very well be the most well-remembered, and the best, radio police drama series. From September, 1949 through February 1957, Dragnet 's 30 minute shows, broadcast on NBC, brought to radio true police stories in a low-key, documentary style. The origins of Dragnet can be traced to a semi-documentary film, "He Walked by Night" from 1948, in which Webb had a small role. Both employed the same Los Angeles Police Department technical...

This includes 90+ episodes of Dangerous Assignment (1949 and 1950-53) with proper names for the episodes. Also, it's been a common practice to "pad" the episodes of Dangerous Assignment by adding dead air to the end of the recording so that the episode is 32 minutes in length. All such padding has been removed. Episode names obtained from the Digital Deli: http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Dangerous-Assignment.html

One of the most unique and uniquely odd film I have seen. Considering when and where it was made, the production values are almost unbelievably high. It seems to have been made in occupied France, with the clear intent to blame the Freemasons as dupes and/or masterminds in engineering the outbreak of war. While proving the premise seems like it would be an uphill battle, the film demonstrates great care in citing historical events within France to back this up. Citing Freemason infiltration...

How do you do, In times of political and social upheaval there is often personal upheaval as well. After trying to adjust to changed conditions, many try to escape, voting with their feet for a different way of life. We are about to meet a man who did just that, but who found that a really new life requires more than geographical change. For him, there was new life only after his heart and mind and life were unshackled. www.pgm.org www.warneveryone.com

Irish bagpipes solo, Parlophone E3615. O'Cronin played with Leo Rowsome in the All Ireland Trio, according to Leo's son Liam. O'Cronin played flute in the group, Leo pipes, Seamus O Mathuna fiddle. O'Cronin also founded the Cork Volunteer Pipe Band. He died in 1930. I have always thought this was Leo himself playing the pipes, it is such beautiful music, and of such a high standard of playing. The original disc had a chip in its side, hence this dub beginning a few seconds into the recording.

LibriVox recording of Principles of Economics Book 1, by Alfred Marshall. Principles of Economics was a leading economics textbook of Alfred Marshall (1842-1924), first published in 1890. Marshall began writing the Principles of Economics in 1881 and he spent much of the next decade at work on the treatise. His plan for the work gradually extended to a two-volume compilation on the whole of economic thought; the first volume was published in 1890 to worldwide acclaim that established him as one...

LibriVox recording of The Joyful Wisdom, by Friedrich Nietzsche, translated by Oscar Levy. Read by TimSC. "The Joyful Wisdom," written in 1882, just before "Zarathustra," is rightly judged to be one of Nietzsche's best books. Here the essentially grave and masculine face of the poet-philosopher is seen to light up and suddenly break into a delightful smile. Librivox recording of Beyond Good and Evil , by Friedrich Nietzsche. First published in 1886 at Nietzsche's own expense, the book was not initially considered important. In it, Nietzsche denounced what he considered to be the moral vacuity of 19th century thinkers. He attacked philosophers for what he considered to be their lack of critical sense and their blind acceptance of Christian premises in their considerations of morality and values. Beyond Good and Evil is a comprehensive overview of...

Librivox recording of the The Twilight of the Idols or How to Philosophise with the Hammer by Friedrich Nietzsche. Read by D.E. Wittkower Of The Twilight of the Idols , Nietzsche says in Ecce Homo : “If anyone should desire to obtain a rapid sketch of how everything before my time was standing on its head, he should begin reading me in this book. That which is called ‘Idols’ on the title-page is simply the old truth that has been believed in hitherto. In plain English, The Twilight of the...
